I AM USING THIS QUOTE BECAUSE THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT JORDAN'S WRITING IS THAT HER CHARACTERS LEARN HOW TO WALK IN THE DARK, BUT FIND THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY :) HERE IS MY INTERVIEW WITH JORDAN:
Bec- Hey Jordan, thanks so much for doing this interview with me! I can't wait to 'pick your brain' :)!
Hi there, Bec, thanks so much for inviting me to your blog today!!
1. What series or book you have written proved to be the most challenging?
They all seem to stump me at the end. When I have a specific ending in mind starting out, it doesn’t tend to fit by the time I’m done. My second Mnevermind book, Forget Me Not, was also pretty difficult because I wasn’t quite sure readers would find the protagonist Elijah sympathetic. I don’t always care about whether characters are “likeable” as long as they’re interesting, but Elijah with his autism was a special case. I did need him to be likeable, even lovable. I wanted him to ring true, but that meant making his point of view pretty uncomfortable.
Bec- I love the way you make it so we can relate to each of the characters of yours we read in some small way, as they have a life all their own, and that is sometimes hard for an author to do over and over, but you do it so well!
2. I have often seen that authors identify with one of their characters more than others, if this is the case with you, who is the character and why?
Every character has a little nugget of me inside there somewhere, but also elements that are different from me as well. Wild Bill from the Channeling Morpheus series has a lot of me, though. I just sometimes feel like an island with the world changing all around me, this is how he strikes me coming into the series before he meets Michael. Since he’s a vampire, he looks like he’s in his twenties, but he’s really in his forties. So he and I have our age in common. I also gave him my musical taste. And I think sometimes I share his cynicism.
Bec- I love Wild Bill, and he has great taste in music :)! I can see how it would be easy to write some of your own personality into your characters without even really thinking about it!
3. What made you decide to put your books on audio? Are you glad you did? (I know I am)
Readers had been asking me for years to do it, but it’s only within the last couple years that indie authors could both discover vocal talent, have access to affordable recording, and gain distribution. I always figured no one could ever read Victor Bayne in a way that would do him justice, but Jordan L. Hawk (who’d put both her SPECTR and Whyborne & Griffin series in audio at that point) encouraged me to put the work up for audition, pointing out that nothing would force me to pick someone if I didn’t really like them. Luckily, Gomez Pugh was looking to branch out into erotic at the time and we connected…and he was so damn perfect for Vic.
Bec- I love Gomez Pugh's voice, perfect for your books, and I could listen to him all day, (I have as a matter of fact :P) I am really glad you decided to do audio and I know many others are too!
4. One of the things I love most about the books I have read of yours is, there is no real "damsel in distress' weak characters, is that intentional?
The thing about a main character is that a book is more interesting if it’s about them doing something, rather than just showing things happening to them. So in that sense you won’t find much victimhood in my characters, I find that would make a weak story structure. One big exception would be Meatworks, a novel in which Desmond Poole, a despicable, self-loathing punk, does everything he can to avoid…basically everything. He’s the closest thing I have to a damsel in distress. Which is pretty funny since he’s more of an obnoxious prick.
Bec- Haha, and yes you are right, I love to read a characters intent as well as the outcome, I think you craft your characters really well, and that is one of the things that make your stories so interesting.
5. Do you go into writing a book with the knowledge that it will be a series or does it just snowball?
Nowadays, yes I do plan, absolutely. When I first started out, no. I thought Among the Living was a standalone novella, and it turned out to be the first book of the PsyCop series. I also wrote Payback as a standalone, and the publisher asked me to turn it into the Channeling Morpheus series. Publishing was really different ten years ago than it is now. Nowadays m/m is actually popular enough to make a living at, and nowadays it’s plain that readers really want series. Back in the early days it was all more like guesswork, writing wherever the muse took you and hoping someone might read it.
Bec- Oh my I can't imagine only one PsyCop or Morpheus book! It is great to have a plan, but I am so glad that those two books became series! I love both!

PSYCOP SERIES OVERVIEW BOOKS 1 - 5:
I love the 5 books I have read in this series, not only do you get a Psychic Cop who solves cases with the unlikeliest of help: the deceased, you get a love story, ever evolving, with a few bumps in the road, but so far it has all worked out in the end.
What I love most about these stories, is that even with the psychic element, you relate to Victor so well, he has flaws just like everyone else, you get a sense of who he really is, and you see the fact that when he and Jacob meet, they need each other!
I love all of these stories, but my favorite in the series that I have read so far is Secrets, book 4.
You have to read this series guys, you will love it, I listened on Audible and loved every second! This couple is always into or up to something, so it doesn't get boring for a second!
Thanks Jordan, for a series that is so entertaining I will listen and read over and over again!
