Unearthing Cole (Discovering Me #1) by: A.M. Arthur
                                                                reviewed by: Becky

Cole Alston swore he'd never return to his childhood home in rural North Carolina, but when his mother dies, he inherits her hoarded property. He hopes to sell everything and use the money to start over in Canada, far away from his abusive ex-boyfriend. It's a daunting task, and Cole has no idea where to start. Luckily for him, the local antique store owner, Jeremy Collins, volunteers his services in sorting the hoard. Their professional relationship soon evolves into a personal one, but Cole must overcome his past and his anxiety before he can accept a new man in his life or the possibility of a happy future.

Cover Artist: L.C. Chase
Narrator: JP Handler
Length: 4 hours and 7 minutes

This book pulled me into Cole's story and kept my attention over all else until the last word! It made me feel for Cole at first, and proud of him toward the end of the story!

The story starts with Cole in one of the last places he wants to be, at the house where he spent a mostly unhappy childhood. His mother has recently died and he was willed her estate ( and believe me, I use that word loosely ), which is a house and yard filled with years and years of hoarded junk!

While Cole is wondering how in the world he will ever sort through the chaos, a local antique store owner comes by and offers to help him make money off the antiques they find. Cole agrees and he and Jeremy hit it off, but can Cole let go of the past, not just with his parents, but with his very abusive ex Martin?

This is a beautiful story of hurt, fear, trust and starting the healing process. I personally loved the end of this story, the coming full circle that allows Cole to put the past behind him once and for all, and focus on building a happy life, I can't wait to read book 2!

A.M. Arthur is a brilliant author and JP Handler does a brilliant job with narration! A wonderful audio experience for sure!

the 5 rainbow dove rating :)
