Luke believes he has his life figured out...and then he meets Theo.
It should have been simple - a summer spent with his girlfriend Zara at her family's holiday cottage in Cornwall. Seventeen-year-old Luke Savage jumps at the chance, envisioning endless hours of sunbathing on the private beach and riding the waves on his beloved surfboard. He isn't interested in love. Though his rugged good looks and lazy charm mean he can have his pick of girls, he has no intention of falling for anyone.
Nothing prepares Luke for his reaction to Theo, the sensitive Oxford undergraduate who is Zara's cousin and closest friend. All at once, he is plunged along a path of desire and discovery that has him questioning everything he thought he knew about himself. No one, especially Zara, must find out; what he and Theo have is too new, too fragile. But as the deceit spirals beyond their control, people are bound to get hurt, Luke most of all.

HANS HIRSCHI RELEASED HIS LATEST NOVEL, LAST WINTER'S SNOW TODAY AND IT IS AMAZING! I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE BY REVIEW LINK :) I WILL INCLUDE IT AFTER THE BOOK INFO AND EXCERPT!
This is the story of Nilas and how he navigates life, trying to reconcile being gay as well as being Sami. Set over several decades, we follow Nilas and his Swedish husband Casper, as they build a life amid the shallows of bigotry, discrimination, and the onset of the AIDS crisis.
Last Winter's Snow portrays recent LGBT history from a Swedish perspective, from the days when being gay was considered a 'mental disorder' to today's modern anti-discrimination legislation and the move toward equality. It's also the story of one couple and the ups and downs of everyday life in the face of changing rules and attitudes toward them and their relationship.
Last, not least, it's a book that celebrates the rich history and culture of the Sami and their land, Sápmi, as well as their ongoing struggle to achieve recognition and win back the right to self-determination over lands they've lived on for thousands of years.
Last Winter's Snow is Hans M Hirschi's first novel set almost entirely in Sweden, but it is the second time (after Fallen Angels of Karnataka) he takes his readers on a journey into the mountainous regions of Scandinavia in one of his acclaimed novels.

Excerpt:
Sam, the bartender, smiled at him, recognizing one of his regulars, and
asked him if it’d be the usual.
“Yes, a large beer, please!”
Beer in hand, Nilas proceeded farther into the bar to find a place to
sit or a familiar face, but the bar was oddly empty this time of day. Well,
maybe traffic will pick up soon, Nilas thought and sat at one of the tables
overlooking the street. At least this way, he would be able to follow what was
going on outside.
His attention was focused on the whitish foam on top of his glass, while
he nursed thoughts about the lecture he’d attended today. As part of their
engineering curriculum, the students were also encouraged to study a humanistic
subject of their choice, and Nilas had chosen a series of seminars about
philosophy. Today’s lecture had been particularly interesting, as the professor
had introduced them to the work of Danish philosopher Kierkegaard and his
existentialism.
It resonated strangely with Nilas, who pondered the path in life he’d
chosen and what he’d do, given that he firmly rejected any notion of the Christian
god in his life, which, according to Kierkegaard, would be man’s final stage in
life, to live in accordance with the laws of the Christian god.
It made him think about his family’s beliefs. The traditional gods of
the Sami were closely tied to every aspect of their life, ruling over the
heavens, mountains, waters, and forests. When the Swedes had conquered the
land, they had all been forced into accepting the Christian faith. They had all
been baptized, or, at least, they’d kept up the pretense. Behind the backs of
the Swedes, many Sami continued to pray to their own gods and sacrificed to
them, as they always had, although animal sacrifices had ceased.
Nilas knew that his father and many of his relatives would never walk by
an ancient sacrificial place without leaving a gift for the gods. They
respected them too much. Being young and rebellious, Nilas had questioned those
beliefs at times—not only the faith forced upon them by the Swedish colonists
and rulers, but also his own people’s. Kierkegaard wouldn’t
have been pleased. At all.
“Hey! Is this seat taken?” Nilas was startled by the question that
suddenly woke him from his philosophical reveries. He looked up to see a young
man standing there, tall and slim in stature, with shoulder-length, straight, rye-blond
hair, bright-green eyes, and a beautiful, dimpled smile. He looked expectantly
at Nilas.
“No, go ahead. Have a seat,” Nilas responded almost automatically,
intrigued why this stranger would want to sit next to him when he could’ve
chosen any other empty table in the bar. How very un-Swedish.
The guy stretched out his hand. “Hi, I’m Casper. You looked lonely. I
figured you might want some company.”

“It’s an honour
to meet you, sir.”42 smiled at the aging man, trying to appear meek and
respectable. “It will take several days to become familiar with the estate. Of
course, I’m fully trained to guarantee safety and security.”
The man smiled
in return with no hint of friendliness either in thin lips that twitched or
hooded reptilian eyes.
42’s toes
instinctively clenched.
“Well, I’m glad
you’re here at last. The cameras picked up several anomalies last week.” The
target’s voice was shrill and reedy like piss on a toilet bowl. “Marauders
looking for the safe, I expect.” His voice rose at the end like an indignant
rich old man, but 42 was not fooled.
“Yes, sir, I saw
the recordings. Some people will try anything! Please be assured I can and will
protect you twenty-four hours a day.” 42 tapped his security badge as if in
deference to the bogus company it had taken years—years—to create.
“Are you armed?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Shoot anyone
you see. Don’t worry about petty legalities.” His laughter grated around the
room in endless circles then stopped abruptly. It was a long time since this
man had lost control. “Shoot to kill. Minors and adults alike.”
During the
infinitesimal pause, 42 observed the target watching with the same casual
intensity as a cat before pouncing on prey.
“Yes, sir!” 42
pushed his shoulders back. “You can rely on us.”
The target
reached out to softly touch the security badge on 42’s chest. One bony finger
traced the plastic square slowly, leaving behind a faint residue of sweat. 42’s
toes clenched and unclenched; however, his grin did not change.
“That’s a pretty
thing, young man.”
42 nodded
enthusiastically.
“Feel free to
have a look around the house then come to my office.” Suddenly his finger was
underneath 42’s chin, digging into the soft flesh.
“Yes, sir.”

Johannes is starting his new life as a

when a storm arrives, stranding him in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris,
France.
In the hotel lounge, he tries to amuse
himself the best he can. He's nursing a lukewarm beer, and about to head back
to his hotel room for the night, when the most gorgeous man he's ever seen,
with piercing green eyes, buys him a drink. He swears he has never been so
instantly turned on as he is in that moment. The man flirts openly with him,
making no secret of what he wants from Johannes as he invites him to meet in
his room. Not being out only makes Johannes hesitate for a moment before
accepting the beautiful stranger's come-on.
Charlie, a cocky and opinionated,
ex-submissive and reporter is leaving Paris after being on vacation when the
studly jock just happens to appear out of nowhere - served on a silver platter.
Charlie sees no reason to deny himself a last rendezvous before he gets on his
plane back to Canada.
What he doesn't expect is this stranger to
see the real him. Charlie's normal plan of attack is to take charge. But when
it backfires, and the studly stranger not only takes control but makes him want
more, Charlie does the only thing he feel comfortable doing. He runs!
Excerpt:
Like a jack-in-the-box, the bartender suddenly appeared before him, all
smiles and with a fresh beer that was put in front of him.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t order this…” The protest was more a formality than
an actual objection. He was ready for a new one, but how could the bartender
have known that?
“With courtesy from the gentleman at the other end of the bar.”
Johannes followed the direction of the bartender’s discreetly pointing
finger, his breath catching in his throat the second his gaze locked with the
most amazing green eyes he’d ever seen. A storm of butterflies erupted in his
gut, making all of him tingle, and even if he’d wanted to, he couldn’t look
away.
It wasn’t often that he was awestruck by a man’s looks, but this one was
such a fine specimen it was impossible to not take an interest. The way those
green eyes bore into his, the suggestiveness there, it was clear what was on
the table, and that he wasn’t the only one looking.
The stranger’s eyes roamed down over his body like a hot touch, taking
in every inch, it felt like. The soft-looking, full lips that were twirled into
a cocky smirk rather than a smile made him want to reach over and grab the man
by the front of his shirt and kiss that smirk away. The impulse to do just that
surprised him.
Hannes, get a hold on yourself.
It takes more than a pretty face to get you all ecstatic.
But there was no hiding it. He was excited by the guy and the open
proposition on the table, maybe, or solely, because of what Adam had suggested
on the phone just minutes ago.
“May I make a suggestion, sir?” the bartender
said with a friendly smile.
He already knew what he was going to do. Adam’s
words rang loudly in his mind, but to humor him, Johannes nodded.
“Perhaps you should flip the napkin around?”
Johannes made a face, doubt rushing through him.
No way had this guy sent him a note on a napkin. What was this? Junior high? “I
don’t—”
“Oh, just do it already!” the bartender
interrupted, seeming more excited than he should be.
Quirking a brow at him, Johannes flipped the napkin
over, and there, written in neat block letters, it said, Meet me by the men’s room. Don’t make me wait!
Johannes snorted out a laugh. Was this guy
serious?
