If they're to survive Jack's wrath, Laurence and Quentin must master their blossoming feelings and gifts, but even then the cost of Laurence's mistake could well overwhelm them both. How exactly are mere mortals supposed to defeat a god?
Every once in a while I run across a book I pick up and can't put it down until I am finished, literally, and this was one of those books for sure! Amelia has outdone herself with this brilliant start to a series!
Laurence is a character I really fell in love with, he is so tired of living the way he has, and hiding the pain from bad decisions that never really goes away. Laurence has power, but not being able to harness it correctly comes back to haunt him when he summons 'Jack' on accident.
Quentin is in no position to fall for someone, and his fear of sex could really throw a kink in the works (no pun intended :P), but he doesn't have a say in the way he feels for Laurence, it just happens.
Can these two men overcome their pasts, fears, and strongholds and learn how to be together? If they do what about the evil that Laurence summoned, will 'Jack' let these two be, or will they have to fight for what they want?
This is a wonderful book, and I can't wait for book two! Thanks Amelia, for such a brilliant start to a series!
