MAN I LOVE RELEASE DAY! I HAVE MY REVIEW OF THE SHIP ENGINEER BY SERENA YATES FOR YOU TODAY, AND LET ME TELL YOU, I LOVE THIS BOOK! I HAVE MY REVIEW, SALES LINK, AND EVEN AN EXCERPT, AND AUTHOR BIO, SO LET'S GET STARTED!
I LOVE THIS QUOTE FOR THIS STORY! HERE IS MY REVIEW:
The Ship Engineer (Workplace Encounters) Serena Yates
reviewed by Becky
Nathan Kappas, newly promoted to second engineer on the cruise ship Sapphire, has eyes only for the vessel he’s about to board. He literally runs into Harper Quade, a singer and dancer hired to entertain passengers. Harper has always wanted to travel, and working onboard the Sapphire keeps him away from his abusive ex-boyfriend. As they sail to Hawaii, Tahiti, and other exotic destinations, Nathan and Harper soon share a cabin and a deepening connection, which surprises Nathan, who generally prefers the predictability of machines to people. But an employee who feels jilted when Harper gets promoted harasses him, and Harper’s dangerous past refuses to let him escape. Harper might not be as safe on the Sapphire as he assumed, but Nathan will do anything to protect him.
I am so in love with the Workplace Encounters series it isn't even funny, and this book is no different! I was drawn to sweet, awkward Nathan right away, and I love how his character developed throughout the book, Serena Yates is very good with character development in a short story, which is very hard to do!
Nathan takes a job as Second Engineer on the cruise ship Sapphire, mainly because he thinks it will be a better way to avoid interaction with a lot of passengers, which makes him uncomfortable. When he meets Harper a singer and dancer when he first gets on board, Nathan begins to rethink his whole 'avoiding people' decision.
Harper thinks Nathan is beautiful and sweet, and he is so unlike his abusive ex that Harper is instantly attracted. These two begin a sweet romance and find they have real feelings for each other. When Harper gets a lead part in a production when he hasn't been working on the ship long one of the other dancers gets jealous, could he and Harper's past threaten his and Nathan's happiness?
Oh yes friends, you will love love love this book, and the men in it, so grab it today! Thanks Serena, for giving us characters that linger long after we finish the book!

NOW HERE IS AN EXCERPT FOR YA:
HARPER WAS almost bouncing as he waited for Nathan to make an appearance in the crew bar where they’d agreed to meet. Inspired by the delicious Hula Pie served in the Outrigger Hotel, Harper had managed to convince the Sapphire’s assistant chef, the one who liked his dancing, to make it fresh for him. The man had even given him a little insulated container so the ice cream wouldn’t melt and the whipped cream would have a hope of staying somewhat fresh. He couldn’t wait to try the famous recipe before feeding the rest to Nathan, ideally in the privacy of his cabin, courtesy of the hopefully once again absent roommate. “I’m so glad we managed to meet up.” Nathan’s voice came from right next to Harper’s ear. It was as husky as he remembered it and it made shivers of anticipation run up and down his spine. There was just something about the ruggedly handsome engineer that had him in knots of anticipation every time he looked at him. Or listened to him, apparently. “Same here.” Harper looked up into those deep brown eyes, the most intense he’d ever seen. “Did you have a good day, sweetheart?” Nathan grinned as he took the seat across from him. “Sweetheart?” Harper was suddenly a little short of breath. “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this.” Nathan shrugged, suddenly not looking at him. “I figured if you have an endearment for me, I can have one for you?” “Of course you can.” Harper brought his foot to Nathan’s thigh under the table, stroking it softly.
NOW YOU GET THE RATING HUH? :) HERE IS A SHORT BIO ON SERENA, AND THE LINK TO HER WEBSITE:
I’m a night owl and start writing when everyone else in my time zone is asleep. I’ve loved reading all my life and spent most of my childhood with my nose buried in a book. Although I always wanted to be a writer, financial independence came first. Twenty-some years and a successful business career later I took some online writing classes and never looked back.
Living and working in seven countries has taught me that there is more than one way to get things done. It has instilled tremendous respect for the many different cultures, beliefs, attitudes and preferences that exist on our planet.
I like exploring those differences in my stories, most of which happen to be romances. My characters have a tendency to want to do their own thing, so I often have to rein them back in. The one thing we all agree on is the desire for a happy ending.
I currently live in the United Kingdom, sharing my house with a vast collection of books. I like reading, traveling, spending time with my nieces and listening to classical music. I have a passion for science and learning new languages.
