Love is the only gold

Former Ranger turned FBI agent Reed Acton faces his biggest challenge yet: a Christmas visit from partner Trent Copeland’s parents. He’s less equipped to handle hugs and holidays than the Taliban or international art thieves. When he’s assigned to track down a set of gold Babylonian artifacts looted from the Iraqi National Museum after the fall of Baghdad, things start to look up.

This time, Trent’s part of the mission, which takes them to exotic Istanbul. The crowded streets and labyrinthine markets fascinate Trent, but soon murder is on their trail. The investigation continues as Reed goes undercover at a US Army base, with Trent masquerading as his spouse. Surprisingly, fastidious and ever-fashionable Trent fits into base life right away and soon takes one of the suspects’ wives under his wing when domestic abuse rears its head.

Their faux marriage leads Reed to appreciate Trent in ways he never expected, strengthening their bond—until Reed has to confront the worst demons from his past: his relationship with his estranged family.

I am extremely excited to talk about this book.  This being one of my favorite series by author EM Lynley.

Trent and Reed have been together for three years and they throughly love each other but sometimes is difficult to balance the relationship.

I'm so glad we go into Reed's history in this one, that way we could understand more about the family he never talks about.

The case goes into the missing artifacts from the time of the Iraqi war and puts Trent and Reed in front of that past, literally.

Without wanting to give much away it is interesting how getting to open up Reed leads Trent to understand his silence and to let himself be vulnerable.

Trent truly becomes the patience man and partner that Reed needs. As a matter of fact, he also becomes an important part of the investigation.

Meeting with the past and family will change them both forever.

Hopefully, we will see more of them soon.

GRAB IT FRIENDS, NOW HERE IS AN EXCERPT FOR YOU!

On New Year’s Day, Trent and Reed slept in.
“Wow, Reed, that was some midnight kiss, and I think you fucked me a few years into the future when we got back here.” Trent scooted up against Reed and pulled him close.
“I hope that’s a good thing.”
Trent beamed.
Reed wouldn’t admit that seeing Trent dancing with Wes Tremayne sent waves of red-hot jealously through every fiber in his body. The intensity startled Reed, even though Wes’s partner, another movie-star gorgeous guy, was there too.
Of course he trusted Trent completely, but now Reed wondered what Trent did while he was left alone in LA for weeks at a time. What if Trent got tired of waiting for Reed to come home?
The possibility terrified Reed.
“Let’s pretend it’s midnight again.” Trent’s voice was low, honey-thick.
But the love shining in Trent’s eyes meant so much more than the way his cock dug into Reed’s hip.
“Let’s.”

Later, Laura and Rob came over for homemade waffles, courtesy of Trent. The four of them spent the day relaxing, though Rob insisted on watching the New Year’s Day college bowl games.
“Both Oklahoma and OK State are in bowls today!” He settled himself into the comfortable chair with Trent on the couch. Based on Trent’s heretofore unstated interest in college football, Reed suspected this was a family tradition.
“Rob and the kids would spend the whole day watching games when they all lived at home, and our house is still the gathering place,” Laura explained.
“Don’t you like football, Reed?” Rob asked as he and Trent grabbed beers Laura had brought from the kitchen.
Reed took the last bottle from Laura. “Got nothing against football, but I don’t really watch it.”
“Did you play growing up, high school or college?” Laura asked.
“Shhh,” Rob said. “The commercials are over.”
Laura rolled her eyes toward the ceiling, and Reed concentrated on his beer.
“No, I didn’t get a chance,” Reed answered.
“Why’s that?” Rob asked, though he kept his gaze on the television. “Damn, just another pregame show full of chatter and hard-luck stories of the players.”
“I like those stories,” Trent said. “Reed grew up on Army bases around the world.”
Rob glanced over at him, and Reed nodded. “We lived abroad, and there wasn’t a league. By the time I got to West Point, I wasn’t good enough to make the team even if I’d wanted to.”
“West Point, huh?” Rob asked.
Trent beamed, and Reed felt an odd warmth in his chest. Trent was proud enough to announce Reed’s accomplishments to his family, and that was a new feeling for Reed.
“My, your mother must have been thrilled for you to get accepted there!” Laura said, sipping her iced tea.
“His mother?” Rob said. “How about his father? That would sure make a dad proud.”
Trent looked at his feet. Had Rob’s comment been some kind of insult to him?
“I suppose.” Reed didn’t exactly want to discuss what his dad thought of anything he did. “Proud” was probably the last emotion his father had felt toward Reed. No matter what Reed did—including applying to West Point and graduating near the top of his class—he’d never earned his father’s approval.

HOW ABOUT AN AUTHOR BIO AND LINKS:

EM Lynley writes sizzling gay romance with a hint of mystery. She loves books where the hero gets the guy and the loving is 11 on a scale of 10. A Rainbow Award winner and EPIC finalist, EM has worked in high finance, high tech, and in the wine industry, though she'd rather be writing hot, romantic man-on-man action. She spent 10 years as an economist and financial analyst, including a year as a White House Staff Economist, but only because all the intern positions were filled. Tired of boring herself and others with dry business reports and articles, her creative muse is back and naughtier than ever. She has lived and worked in London, Tokyo and Washington, D.C., but the San Francisco Bay Area is home for now.
