V.I.R. OF THE DAY: DAY 4: DEBBIE BOSCIA!!

HEY AGAIN FRIENDS! IT IS DAY 4 OF V.I.R. WEEK AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO READ TODAY'S V.I.R POST BY DEBBIE BOSCIA! SHE HAS FANTASTIC TASTE IN BOOKS AND AUTHORS AND A WONDERFUL STORY TO TELL, SO LET'S TAKE A LOOK!

DEBBIE'S POST!

Hi Everyone! First off, I’d like to say a big thank you to Bec for the wonderful idea of VIR and for the honor of being chosen. Quite frankly I’m a little freaked out by being in the spotlight so to speak but the introvert in me will give it a go.

What can I tell you about me? Well, I have always loved books for as long as I can remember. I liked holding them, looking at them and collecting them but I really didn’t start reading books until 3rd or 4th grade when I was given the book “The Secret of the Old Clock” (Book 1 of the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories). That was it. I was hooked. I loved Nancy and the gang. Honestly, I wanted to be Nancy. And yes, I still have my whole collection of Nancy Drew books although they are now packed away in the garage. So I started out my reading career as a mystery book lover and almost exclusively read books by female authors. Mary Higgins Clark, Janet Evanovich and Sue Grafton were among my favorites.

It wasn’t until about 2012 and I was well into my 40s that I stumbled into reading romance books. And yes, before I was one of “those” people. You know the ones that side-eyed the romance shelves at the bookstore with a sniff. Ignorant to the fact that the romance genre covers an enormous range of sub genres more than just historical or contemporary romance as I thought and vastly different than what I imagined. (I’m so sorry I was an idiot). If I had to guess, I’d say Lori Foster’s books were probably the first romance books I ever read and I loved them. I then branched out to the likes of Vivian Arend, Bella Andre and a whole host of others. It wasn’t long after and somewhere in the 1000+ ebooks I bought in 2012 that I found M/F erotica. Boy, was that an eye-opening read and a slippery slope down the rabbit hole. Lol.

Then one day as I spent hours searching Amazon for new books, I happened upon M/M romance and erotica. Holy crap!!! I thought I knew all the type of books I loved and I was wrong. So very, very wrong. The M/M genre sucker punched me and stole my heart and I haven’t looked back. M/M is almost 99% of all the books I read now. I’m sad to say I have no idea what was the title or author of the first M/M book I read. However, I do remember it was a short story about a guy attending the Scottish games and hooking up with one of the contestants—a big bear of a caber thrower.

It’s very difficult to say who my top 3 or 5 or 10 favorite authors are because there are so many that I love and autobuy. So I guess I’ll tell you the names of the couple authors that I continually reread while trying to decide which new book on my very long TBR list I want to read. I’m heartbroken to say that two of my absolute favorite authors passed away in 2017–Sandrine Gasq-Dion and AC Katt

One of my favorites is Sandrine Gasq-Dion and her Assassin-Shifter series. This series speaks to me on so many levels. And I probably shouldn’t tell you how much I enjoy a good bad-guy-get-his-ass-kicked/killed story. It may be even more than I love a HEA or HFN ending. Ok, maybe not but it’s close.

Another favorite reread is AC Katt’s Werewolves of Manhattan series. I love her shifter world of very wealthy and powerful shifter leaders and their “special” mates that come together as chosen family. I also love AC’s Indiscreet series which has a very light BDSM theme.

Frey Ortega is another favorite, I love all of his books but his Lykaios series is my fave! I love his Hidden Lake series too!
And finally there’s Charlie Richards’ Wolves of Stone Ridge, Kontra’s Menagerie, A Loving Nip and A Paranormal’s Love series. Her series contain a little something for everyone from wolves to a mixed-shifter biker gang to vampires, gargoyles, humans and even a demon or two or three. What’s not to like there?

I hope you’ll find new book friends to love. Thanks for reading and allowing me this opportunity to chat.
