Just before New Year’s Eve, Cameron Lewis, a former Marine turned police detective, comes into the bakery for donuts for his department and some black buns for himself. Cameron is hooked, and as his visits become more frequent, they stir Ian’s father’s suspicions. But threats can’t stop Ian from donning his kilt and entering the competition anyway—to show his father what he can do on his own.  HERE IS AN EXCERPT TO TIDE YOU OVER:

Just before nine things had slowed down to a manageable level, and Ian was about to take a short restroom break, leaving the store to Senga. But then the doorbell tinkled yet again, and the most gorgeous man Ian had ever laid eyes on walked into the store. He was tall, probably over six feet, had blond hair in a ruthless buzz cut, and his warm brown eyes invited Ian to trust him. The man was well built, muscular like a Marine, and wore a smart dark green suit, covered by an open black winter topcoat. His facial expression seemed guarded but curious as he looked around the store. Ian had the strangest feeling he was cataloging exits and potential sources of danger.
Thank God Senga was busy with a group of women unable to decide what they wanted so Ian had an excuse to talk to the guy.
“What can I do for you, sir?” Ian’s voice sounded suspiciously hoarse, and for the briefest moment, a spark of heat appeared in Mr. Good-looking’s eyes.
“I’ve never been to this bakery before….” The stranger trailed off as he examined Ian with the same curiosity and concentration he had used to assess the shop.
I know you haven’t. I’d definitely remember you!
“A colleague at the station recommended your stuff, so I came to have a look.” The stranger tilted his head. “You’ll probably laugh, since this is such a cliché, but I’m looking for donuts.”
“Station? Donuts?” Ian’s brain refused to function for a moment.
“Yeah, I’m a cop. Well, a detective actually, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I love donuts, and so do my colleagues.” The stranger laughed, and the deep, resonant sound thrilled Ian to his core.
“Ah. Right, well, we do sell donuts.” Ian pointed to the display. “It’s not a great selection, since most customers seem to come here for the more Scottish specialties, but I hope you can find some you like.”
“I’ll take two dozen, please.” Mr. Detective smiled. “And what else do you think I should get so my colleagues can find out about your wonderful work? It does smell amazing in here.”
“Thank you.” Ian started to put the donuts into a box and, without thinking, blurted out the first thing he could think of. “Would you like to try my buns?”
“Your… buns?” Mr. Detective’s eyebrows rose, a twinkle appeared in his eyes, and an amused smile curved his dark red lips.
“Yes. The black ones.” Ian pointed at the cakes, only to realize what the stranger must have meant when the man couldn’t stop grinning. Heaven above, was the gorgeous specimen of male beauty gay? But who else would have gotten the joke? Not that Ian had meant it as a joke. He was deep enough in the closet he didn’t know how to begin looking for the door, never mind find it. He definitely wouldn’t mind trying if this guy were on the other side, waiting for him. But Mr. Detective probably wasn’t out either, even if he were gay. A gay cop, or detective, wouldn’t make it out here in the wilds of Wyoming. Ian could feel himself blush even as he realized he was now babbling in his own head.
“Oh, I see.” Mr. Detective bent toward the black buns and grinned. “They look kinda cute. Are they as Scottish as they look with that flag painted on them?”
“Yes, they’re a traditional cake eaten during the traditional Scottish Hogmanay celebration on New Year’s Day.” Ian finished packing up the donuts, closed the box, and placed it on the counter. “Would you like to try one?”
“Yes, please. I have no idea what’s inside, but I like surprises. I’ll try to figure out what the ingredients are.” Mr. Detective looked back up. “Gives me a fun mystery to ponder.”
“Okay, I’ll get you one in a small box.” Ian wasn’t going to ask about the other mysteries, the not-so-fun ones, in the man’s life. He might be a homicide detective, and eww, Ian wasn’t going there. “Anything else I can get you?”
“Nah, I’m okay for now.” Mr. Detective grinned again. “But if your stuff tastes as good as it looks and smells, I’ll definitely be back. Can’t believe I’ve worked here for five years and have never noticed this place. Don’t tell anyone, or they’ll take my badge.”
Ian laughed as he rang up the purchase and took the guy’s money. As far as I’m concerned, you can come back anytime, Mr. Detective!

I SURE CAN'T WAIT TILL THIS COMES OUT ON THE 15TH! THANKS FOR JOINING ME FOR MY COVER REVEAL AND PROMO POST OF THE BAKER! GRAB IT EARLY FRIENDS!

WOLVES OF BLACK PINE RELEASE DAY REVIEW!!

I TOTALLY LOVE RELEASE DAY REVIEWS, AND BOY DO I HAVE A GREAT ONE FOR YOU TODAY! WOLVES OF BLACK PINE THE WOLFKIN SAGA 1 BY: SJ HIMES IS A WONDERFUL STORY YOU WILL JUST LOVE! I HAVE MY REVIEW, LINKS, AN EXCERPT, AND AUTHOR BIO AND LINKS, LET'S GET TO IT!

I LOVE THIS QUOTE FOR THIS BOOK, HERE IS MY REVIEW:

Wolves Of Black Pine ( The Wolfkin Saga 1) by: Sj Himes
                                                                     reviewed by: Becky

An ancient civilization long hidden from humanity is on the brink of chaos and war. Peaceful for thousands of years, the wolfkin clans are mysteriously losing packmates, kidnapped and killed by unknown foes.

The nightmare begins with an ambush by humans at a gathering of their kind, and lives are lost. Among them is Luca, youngest grandson of the two most powerful wolves in the Northern Clans. Thought long dead and gone, he is forced into a half-life, hidden in the far northern wilds of Canada and cut off from his kind. Those who raised him have no idea the creature they harbor in their midst, and name him Ghost. He begins to lose himself over the long years, and though he barely recalls his true name, the one wolf he never forgets is Kane.

Kane, Heir to the wolfkin clan Black Pine, is charged with hunting down the traitors who betrayed their kind to the humans. Years fly by, and more wolves are dying. He refuses to give up, and he vows to never again fail another of their kind, as he failed young Luca years before. His heart tells him Luca lives, but his mind tells him that it’s foolish hope, his guilt eating him alive.

Fate and magic change the course of their lives, and the two wolves long separated by the years find their paths intertwining. Though the gift of their reunion doesn’t come without price. Faced by the consequences of their growing love, and the goddess-forged bond between them, Kane and Ghost are besieged on all sides. Enemies are coming for their blood, and without the steadfast loyalty and love of family and friends, they may not be safe from the very people they fight to protect.

This book is just stunning, the way it morphs from when Luca is young and the unthinkable happens, to years later when he is Ghost and living a life far removed from his early years is seamless, which is very hard to do.

We first meet young Luca at a gathering of the Werekin, and he is just a pup and as the youngest grandchild of two very powerful werekin families, he is destined for greatness. When tragedy strikes Luca is separated from his family and believed dead, and Kane who tried to save him takes losing young Luca very hard.

Luca is found by a couple who raise him as a wolf they named Ghost, and they never realize the powerful being that they have in their home. I won't give much more away, but I will say that when Kane and Luca find each other again, sparks fly, no matter how ill timed they are.

Come on the journey with two souls who were destined to find each other and read what happens, both good and bad when they do! I must warn you, you will need book two right when you finish book one, I can't wait for it! Thanks Sj, for an epic tale of two men we can easily fall in love with!

the 5 beef jerky rating ;p

I DID THIS RATING IN HONOR OF A YUMMY SNACK FOR A HUNGRY LITTLE WOLF CUB! HERE ARE THE LINKS FOR THIS ONE:

OH BOY DO YOU NEED TO GET THIS ONE! HERE IS AN EXCERPT THAT I THINK YOU WILL GO AWWWW OVER!

“Glen, how old would you say he is?” Cat whispered, hoping her partner would say what her brain was thinking, but what her gut was saying was wrong.
“His size puts him around ten to twelve weeks….but his teeth and musculature, limb development looks younger than that. Scroll over to where he lifts up his lip…” Cat flipped pictures, and she saw the frame he was referring to, “-and his teeth, eyes and ears are saying he’s around five to seven weeks. God, he’s beautiful, too.”
“Shit. That’s what my gut says, too.” They’d both spent years of their lives looking at wolves, and what she was seeing didn’t make sense. “Is he just really big for his age?” “Must be. Probably the only surviving pup in a litter, so he got all the food. That would make sense.”
“Yeah, that does make sense. Oh, wow. Umm….” She trailed off, as the cub moved. She was disappointed, thinking he was about to run away, never to be seen again. She had her proof that wolves were back in Baxter, the pup’s presence evidence of breeding pairs at the minimum. Instead of running to the bushes, the cub stood on shaky legs, and tumbled from the pile of logs. He moved as if he didn’t know his nose from his tail, clumsy like most pups, but a cub of ten weeks or so should be more coordinated, substantiating their opinion he was actually much younger.
They both froze, and Cat found one of her hands had grabbed Glen’s wrist in a death grip as the cub got to his feet, and oh-dear-Lord, slowly walked over to them. He was lovely, and his tail was out straight, head level to his shoulders, his posture curious and not aggressive. The cub would be glorious when he lost his puppy coat and got the spectacular adult coat of the gray wolf. He seemed to remember how to walk the more steps he took, and Cat and Glen held absolutely still as the cub came right up to them, black nose stretched out as far as he could reach, sniffing loudly. The cub wasn’t afraid, just nervous.
As he got closer, Cat could see that he was damp, and his legs were muddy, tail too. He smelled like river water, and she had a sneaking suspicion he must have been in the current. It would explain his shivers, and damp fur. The cub snuck in cautiously, and his nose was inches from her free hand. Her fingers twitched, the desire to touch him nearly overpowering, yet she held back. He was a wild creature, and she couldn’t treat him like a pet.
She held firm right up until his tiny little pink tongue came out and licked the back of her hand, whimpering pitifully as he scooted closer. He put his head under her hand, making her pet him, and she fell in love instantly.
“Cat….” Glen warned, but the cub’s tail was wagging, and he was suddenly in her lap, whining and licking at her face, her arms coming up instinctively, hugging the cub. She laughed, the licks tickling her, and she tried to keep him from falling as he all about climbed her torso to give her kisses.
“Dammit, Cat…” Glen suddenly found himself with an armful of wiggling cub, the little wolf jumping from Cat’s lap to the flustered photographer’s. Glen tried to abstain, but the cub’s enthusiasm soon put a reluctant smile on the older man’s face. “He’s charming, isn’t he?”
He wasn’t acting like a wild animal. He wasn’t afraid, not anymore, yipping happily as Glen scratched behind his ears, practically throwing himself in joy on the man. Glen smiled, and Cat laughed as the cub rooted in Glen’s coat pockets, his nose working loudly.
“Think he found your jerky stash, Glen.”
“Yeah he did.” Glen managed to get the plastic pouch away from the cub, who promptly sat on his haunches and perked up his ears, tail wagging. He looked so much like a Labrador she had as a kid she felt a niggling suspicion firm into conviction.
“Glen, I don’t think he’s wild.” Cat pointed at the way he was sitting, and the pup yipped, raising one foot and pawing at the air, eyes fixed on the jerky in Glen’s hand. “Look at how he’s acting. He’s used to people.”
“Yeah, I can tell. I’ve never seen a wild wolf pup act like this. He’s acting more like a dog than a wolf.” The pup seemed to understand, and he almost glared at the photographer before his attention returned to the jerky. Glen laughed softly, and rubbed his head. “Sorry, pal. You’re nice for a mean, evil varmint.” That got Glen another look, but Cat just smiled, thinking she was seeing things after hiking around in the woods all day getting drained of her blood supply by the local pests.
“Where do you think he came from?” Cat asked, as both she and Glen relaxed on the ground, the pup between them with a chunk of jerky, making happy growls as he chewed on the dry meat. “He obviously isn’t wild.”

AWWW, LITTLE LUCA, SERIOUSLY, HOW CUTE IS THAT? JUST WAIT; THIS BOOK IS STUNNING! HERE IS AN AUTHOR BIO AND LINKS FOR YA:
I’m a thirty something bisexual cisgendered woman with way too big an imagination, but that comes in handy when I’m writing. I have been writing since I was a child, when I took a four page assignment on what I was going to do on summer vacation and turned it into a 100 page fantasy epic all written by hand…in crayons. No joke.
I work a day job, but I can’t share for who, since the Old Man isn’t as liberated as the people who read my books. I’m married, I have furbabies, and I live with loved ones. I adore a certain show about a British consulting detective and his grumpy army doctor, and that spawned an addiction to Johnlock fanfiction, which then evolved into me writing it. Gawd, that’s embarrassing. Put this down in the TMI section of my Bio, okay?  I enjoy martial arts, movies where things blow up, and I wish I lived in a Marvel movie.
I live in the beautiful and lonely Berkshire County in Massachusetts, and I see way more wildlife than I care to on a daily basis (bears!). My perfect day is reading surrounded by friends and family who don’t think it’s odd I want to hang out but not talk, and my favorite scent of all time is a cool fall evening with leaves burning….less a scent, and more of an experience.
My writing is focused on gay and lesbian people, who are more than interesting side characters that hang out with the heterosexual MCs. My wish for the future is that when people ask me what I do for a living, I can say, “I write gay romance,” and NOT get weird looks.

ORION'S CIRCLE RELEASE DAY REVIEW!!

HELLO FRIENDS, I HAVE A RELEASE DAY REVIEW FOR YOU THAT I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT! ORION'S CIRCLE  BY VICTORIA SUE IS A FRESH NEW LOOK AT SHIFTERS THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS! I HAVE MY REVIEW, LINKS, AND EVEN AN EXCERPT FOR YOU, SO DON'T MISS IT !

THIS IS A SIMPLE QUOTE, BUT IT IS PERFECT FOR ADEN! HERE IS MY REVIEW:

Orion's Circle ( Sirius Wolves Part 1) by: Victoria Sue
                                                               reviewed by: Becky

According to legend, when humankind is at its most desperate, the goddess Sirius will send three of the most powerful werewolf shifters ever created to save mankind. However, because they are so powerful, they will need a fourth to complete them, to calm them and help them reach their full potential.

Aden, a young were, has been his pack's omega ever since, at the age of fifteen, he didn't shift like everyone else. Caught, reviled, and tortured because of his empathic abilities, he knew on the night  he was told to run as sport for the pack hunters that it would end in his death. What he didn't know, however, was that on the same night he'd also meet the love of his life and a pathway to answers, because Aden is far more than just a pack omega.

What begins as a hunt soon becomes a new adventure as Aden discovers that he has not only one, but three destined mates, and his role as lover is far more than trivial. The fate of all humankind rests upon it.

If I ever questioned if Victoria Sue could write paranormal as well as she does everything else, she answered with a resounding yes with this book! This story is so powerful, and it draws you in with the first line of the first paragraph!

Aden's life has been hell for the last few years, he was abused and tormented by his pack, and Aden accepted it as the life of an Omega, but when he is hunted for sport and injured he meets three men who will change his life forever.

When Aden sees Blaze and the two beautiful wolves with him he is instantly captivated, little does he know they will save his life and come to mean so much to him. There is much Aden's pack has kept from him, his true nature being one of them.

I want to tell you so much about this book but I won't give away spoilers! What I will say is that it is very well written and will captivate you cover to cover! You will fall in love with these men in a hurry! Thanks Victoria, for giving us a book that lives up to your wonderful writing and then some!

                                                  the 5 lemon rating :)

YES, I HAVE A REASON FOR THIS RATING, YOU WILL SEE :), HERE ARE THE LINKS FOR THIS AMAZING STORY:

NOW HOW ABOUT AN EXCERPT?

Aden blinked awake as the most amazing smell hit him. Like pure snow in a pine forest, clean and sharp.
“I think that woke him up, Alpha.” Aden opened his eyes, saw the dark-haired stranger from the forest smiling at him, turned to the voice that spoke softly by his ear, and was met by the sight of another beautiful human being. But where the first stranger had been dark, this man was fair. His blond hair flopped casually over tanned skin and warm brown eyes. Aden blinked at the smell—lemons—and moved closer without any conscious thought. The first stranger he had seen in the woods walked fully into the room.
The fair-haired guy next to him chuckled. “Do I have to?” He smiled softly at Aden. Aden’s lips curved in answer, and as the man set the tray down, he almost wept as his stomach growled, the delicious scent of bacon and sausages meeting his nose.
“Yes, Alpha.” The man bobbed his head, and climbed out. Aden was just trying to understand the odd one way conversation, when his throat completely dried up. The guy had got out of bed completely naked, and reached to the chair for his pants.

TOLD YOU I HAD A REASON FOR THE LEMONS! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING ME FOR THIS RELEASE DAY REVIEW, I NEED PART TWO OF THIS BOOK LIKE YESTERDAY! :)

Beautiful Monsters
By Rachel Davidson Leigh

“Glad to see you could join the party,” Terrence deadpans, pressing a rainbow bandana into André’s hand. André grabs a second bandana out of the bag, stuffs one in each of his back pockets, and then goes in for a third.
“Cody was checking out the parade route,” André replies, in a smooth lie. “It turns out we’re still walking six blocks through absolutely nothing and then calling it a day.” Terrence laughs, and, as he turns away, André presses a handkerchief into Cody’s hand. “Use it wisely,” he whispers into Cody’s ear. “You’re one of us now.”
One of us. He’s never been part of an “us.” Cody stares down at the lines on the handkerchief and then at the two patches of color on the back of André’s jeans as he walks toward the arriving cars.
Cody expects panic, but it doesn’t come. Maybe he isn’t ready to be Gay with a capital G, but if “us” can mean being one of these idiots, then maybe he’s ready to have people of his own. As he watches the sharp sway of André’s hips, the heat rising up his neck doesn’t feel like fear. It feels like... clarity, as though the run put everything in perspective and now he can’t stop seeing André in crisp, dazzling color.
Someone presses a sign into his hand and guides him toward the parade staging area with the rest of the crew. Once again, he can’t hear himself think over the din, but it’s different now. At the meeting, and for years before that in the hallways, he felt like an invader locked out by a wall of sound, and now he’s somehow wandered inside.

Now for the amazing guest post I was telling you about, you are gonna enjoy this one friends:

VBT: Summer Love   Ella J. Ash

Five Things I would Never Do Again

  1. Childbirth. I’ve had twins and another. The second one without any drugs. Amazing, insane, powerful. Definitely not happening again.

  1. Whale watching on a zodiac boat on the open Pacific Ccean. I love being on open water. I love boat rides. But wow you are literally bouncing up and down off your seat on open tide for TWO HOURS before you reach the destination. I was green. Never again.

  1. Rent a car in the Sierra Nevada, South of Spain. There is a reason why guide books recommend taking public buses in the beautiful, windy, narrow streets of Grenada, Spain. When we were driving our little bitty rental car out of the little bitty garage, the turn was so tight we gashed the side, freaked out about having to explain ourselves to the rental company in Spanish, found out we were insured, and have never been so happy to say goodbye to a car before. Buses. The way to go.

  1. Calculus. I went to this high school for nerdy kids (the best kind) but one of its flaws was that there was this idea that to succeed in life, calculus is a must. I took it. I did fine. I have never so much as looked at a calculus problem since my last year of high school. Life success in tact.

  1. Go to a general admission, standing room only concert (unless I am in the front two rows – it’s worth the wait) – I’m very short – 4’11”. I went to a Bjork concert years ago, stood somewhere in the middle of the pack for 2 hours and literally all I saw the entire time was the top of Bjork’s head. And only occasionally. The next time this situation arose was for Darren Criss. I bought VIP tickets and stood in the front. Worth it.

Thanks Ella, this was great, and thank you friends for joining me for my blog tour stop, grab this book, I know I am gonna read it right now!
