THE THIEF RELEASE DAY REVIEW!!

HELLO FRIENDS, AND HAPPY WEEKEND! I HAVE A RELEASE DAY REVIEW FOR YOU TODAY! YAY I LOVE THOSE, WE ARE LOOKING AT THE NEW RELEASE FROM PATRICIA LOGAN: THE THIEF, AND BOY IS THIS ONE CLEVER: LET'S GET STARTED!

THIS IS TRUE! SO TRUE FOR THIS BOOK, HERE IS MY REVIEW:

The Thief ( Bodyguard #2) by Patricia Logan

Former Marine and bona fide hero, Ranger Corrigan, is one paycheck away from joining his brethren among the ranks of Los Angeles’s homeless Veterans. When he is offered a great paying job in a palatial mansion, Ranger jumps at the chance for a roof over his head and a hot meal in his belly.

Handsome and cultured Landry Metzel lives too well to be the insurance appraiser he claims to be, and Ranger can’t help but want to know why he’s been hired to protect an innocuous man with no enemies. Metzel certainly won’t be sorry to see him go.

As famous masterpieces suddenly begin disappearing from private collections, Ranger begins putting two and two together. When an LAPD detective starts asking questions about murders tied to the thefts, Ranger suddenly wants to learn more about the man he’s hopelessly attracted to.

A wisecracking former Marine, a man with a desperate secret to hide, and a murderous villain come together in a tale of murder, danger, intrigue, and the crime of the century.

Wow, just wow, have you ever had a book that you were reading and you stressed about getting to the end because you didn't want it to be over? Yeah this is so that kind of book! Ranger and Landry just complement each other wonderfully, even before they got together in the book, the yin and yang of the characters played off each other so well in the storyline!

It is a bit into the book before we get a hot scene, but boy is it worth the wait, Patricia Logan knows how to write the hot and dirty let me tell you! Also, the story is so well written that you are so caught up in it you will not even mind! There is so much to love about this book, you are kept on the edge of your seat and guessing, and the storyline never lags, not even once!

Don't miss this book friends, I can't stress enough how good it is and how much you will both love the ending and hate that it ended! Thank you Patricia for making a book 2 in a series that is a prize all unto itself!

WHAT WHO WRITES IS READING WEEK 7

HELLO FRIENDS! WE ARE AT WEEK 7 OF OUR 'WHAT WHO WRITES IS READING' SERIES, THIS WEEK WE HAVE THE WONDERFUL FELICE STEVENS!

ONE OF THE REASONS I AM GLAD THAT WE CAME UP WITH THIS SERIES IS THAT NOT ONLY DO THE FANS KNOW WHAT THE AUTHOR LOVES, BUT WE GET INTRODUCED TO SO MANY GREAT BOOKS AND AUTHORS! I AM GONNA SPEND MONEY THIS WEEK; NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! HERE IS FELICE'S POST:

My favorite book. Hmm. I guess it’s a good thing books don’t have feelings, because I have so many, that I’d be afraid of hurting their feelings. And I’m sticking to the gay romance genre. But if I had to pick one, I’m going to cheat and pick a series. The Adrien English series by the fabulous Josh Lanyon.
Those who know me know I consider myself a Fanyon; one of Josh’s biggest fans. After reading the A.E. series, I purchased almost his entire backlist, which is no small potatoes. He has quite a few titles. What about Adrien English you might ask is so amazing? First of all there’s a little mystery story in each book, and I’m a mystery groupie.
Second, the writing is so damn good. Each word is chosen for a reason, the scenes are beautifully crafted and in every book you feel as though you are there with the character.
Third, the characters themselves. Josh Lanyon typically has at least one character who has a bit of an issue, whether it a physical or mental health issue. I find that endearing and makes me care about the characters even more. Lanyon has had characters with a heart conditon, asthma, anxiety and a whole host of issues.
But what I really love the most is the connection between the love interests in the Josh Lanyon books I’ve read. Sometimes when you start you wonder how these two men are going to get together, yet in the end, it was exactly how it was meant to be. And that’s what a great romance is all about.

OK I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT I REALLY NEED THESE BOOKS NOW! I AM GONNA PUT THE COVERS AND BLURBS AND LINKS UP, BOOKS 1-3 THEN 4 & 5, HERE WE GO:

BOOK 1: FATAL SHADOWS:
One sunny morning Los Angeles bookseller and aspiring mystery author Adrien English opens his front door to murder. His old high school buddy (and employee) has been found stabbed to death in a back alley following a loud and very public argument with Adrien the previous evening.

Naturally the cops want to ask Adrien a few questions; they are none too impressed with his answers, and when a few hours later someone breaks into Adrien's shop and ransacks it, the law is inclined to think Adrien is trying to divert suspicion from himself.
Adrien knows better. Adrien knows he is next on the killer's list.

BOOK 2: A DANGEROUS THING:

In this second LA-based adventure, bookseller Adrien English arrives at the Pine Shadow Ranch (left to him by a beloved grandmother) to find a corpse in his driveway. But by the time the unfriendly local sheriffs arrive, the body has disappeared.

Who are the mysterious strangers excavating on his land? And will he sort out his problems with LAPD Detective Jake Riordan, heavily into S/M sex but not so hot on relationships? Find out in this engrossing, slyly witty thriller.

BOOK 3: THE HELL YOU SAY:

Demons, death threats...
and Christmas shopping.
It's gonna be one Hell of a Holiday.

In the third in the popular Adrien English series, the "ill-starred and bookish" mystery writer has to contend with a Satanic cult, a handsome university professor and his on-again/off-again relationship with the eternally conflicted LAPD Detective Jake Riordan.

And, oh, yes, murder...

OH MAN THESE LOOK SO GOOD, I AM TRYING TO USE THE LINKS BEFORE I PUBLISH THE POST ;) HERE ARE BOOKS 4 & 5!

BOOK 4: DEATH OF A PIRATE KING:

Gay bookseller and reluctant amateur sleuth Adrien English's writing career is suddenly taking off. His first novel, Murder Will Out, has been optioned by notorious Hollywood actor Paul Kane.

But when murder makes an appearance at a dinner party, who should be called in but Adrien's former lover, handsome closeted detective Jake Riordan, now a Lieutenant with LAPD -- which may just drive Adrien's new boyfriend, sexy UCLA professor Guy Snowden, to commit a murder of his own.

BOOK 5: THE DARK TIDE:

Like recovering from heart surgery beneath the gaze of his over-protective family isn't exasperating enough, someone keeps trying to break into Adrien English's bookstore. What is this determined midnight intruder searching for?

When a half-century old skeleton tumbles out of the wall in the midst of Cloak and Dagger Bookstore's renovation, Adrien turns to hot and handsome ex-lover Jake Riordan -- now out-of-the closet and working as a private detective.

Jake is only too happy to have reason to stay in close contact with Adrien, but there are more surprises in Adrien's past than either one of them expects -- and one of them may prove hazardous to Jake's own heart.

HOLY CRAP DO THESE LOOK GREAT! CAN'T WAIT TO READ THEM! THANK YOU FELICE FOR DOING A POST WITH US! I HAVE REVIEWED SOME OF FELICE'S BOOKS, HERE ARE THE LINKS:

HEY THERE FRIENDS, AS PROMISED HERE IS OUR BLOG TOUR STOP FOR HAVE A LITTLE FAITH IN ME BY BRAD VANCE! I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS ONE: WE HAVE A TEASER, EXCERPT, MY REVIEW, BUY LINKS, AND EVEN A RAFFLECOPTER GIVEAWAY, SO LET'S GET STARTED!

WELL IF THIS DOESN'T FIT THIS BOOK, NOTHING DOES! HERE IS MY REVIEW:

Have A Little Faith In Me by: Brad Vance
                                                                reviewed by: Becky

When Rocky met Dex, it was hate at first sight. Country superstar Dex Dexter represented everything that budding rock star Rocky McCoy had left behind him in the Deep South – the religion, the homophobia, the hypocrisy, the lies. And Rocky represented everything that Dex had denied, had turned away from, had refused…

When Rocky met Dex, it was love at first touch. Double booked in the same slot on the main stage at CrossFest, they fought for the microphone like two dogs fighting over a bone. And when their hands met…

Rocky has had enough. “No more falling for straight guys. No way. No matter how hot. Especially if the ‘straight guy’ looks to me like a major closet case.”

Dex has had enough. “No way. I can’t be gay. I can’t lose my family, my friends, my career. I can’t.”

What they’ve had enough of doesn’t matter. It’s what they’ve never had enough of that will bring them together…

I have never met a Brad Vance book that I didn't like, and this one is no exception! Rocky and Dex are perfectly written, and the chemistry is off the charts! Even when these two are at odds, they do it with passion, and it is rare for an author to be able to portray a couple that can have chemistry like that!

Dex is not just in the closet, but in total denial of who he is, and Rocky knows just who he is and embraces it, he refuses to live life according to someone else's rules, not anymore. Rocky doesn't want to be attracted to someone who can't even admit to himself who he is, but alas you can't bargain with attraction! This isn't just a book, it is a journey, a journey through the lives of two men who both know in their hearts that they belong together!

Don't miss this one friends, it is powerful and lovely, and you will hurt and be happy right along with Dex and Rocky! Thank you Brad, for once again writing a book we can easily fall in love with!

Rocky picked up the Gibson Hummingbird. Chris Cornell played one of these. What more did he need to know?
He knew exactly what he wanted to play. How many times had he played this song, how many times had he stretched his voice, discovering his own vocal range. The notes of “Like a Stone” flowed from his fingers in a waterfall, and the words were a flock of birds banking wildly in front of the cascade, flirting with disaster.
He came to the end, the roaring finish, his eyes closed as he sang the epic wave of notes in the last word of the song, “alone.”
He’d only ever played the song when he was alone with Korey, who was no cheerleader. Korey would nod, say, “Good job.” And then tell him where he missed something.
When he was done, he opened his eyes. His new friends were speechless. “Was it okay?” he asked doubtfully.
Holy fucking great mother of God,” Rick gasped. “Who the fuck are you? Where did you come from?”

Rocky smiled. “Under a rock. I’ve been living under a rock.”

THE PARTY BOY'S GUIDE TO DATING A GEEK!

GOOD DAY FRIENDS! TODAY I BRING YOU A GREAT ONE, LAST NIGHT ON FACEBOOK I ASKED FOR RECS ON GOOD 'GEEKBOY GET'S THE GUY BOOKS': THIS WAS THE FIRST BOOK I WAS TOLD TO READ, AND BOY DID IT DELIVER, LET'S LOOK AT 'THE PARTY BOY'S GUIDE TO DATING A GEEK!'

THIS IS TRUE FOR ASH AND FEE, BUT IT IS REALLY TRUE FOR EVERYONE! HERE IS MY REVIEW:

The Party Boy's Guide to Dating a Geek
( Clumsy Cupids #1) by Piper Vaughn & Xara X. Xanakas
                                                              reviewed by: Becky

Ashley Byrne only wants one thing in life: to finish his tattoo apprenticeship and fulfill his dream of owning his own shop. In the meantime, he spends his nights partying, flirting, and having sex. After all, what else is there for him to worry about? Aside from his hair and his clothes, not much. He’s hot, and rest assured no one knows it better than him. He’s also used to getting what he wants—until he meets Felipe Navarro.

Fee Navarro has everything he needs: a great IT job, a nice apartment, and all the high-tech toys his geeky heart could ever want. He doesn’t do casual, and he knows guys like Ash are nothing but. Ash may burn hot for Fee, but Fee isn’t willing to take a chance on a vain, little party boy with too many tats and an oversized ego. He wants someone to share his life with, and he won’t settle for anything less. Too bad Ash has never been the type to give up easily. He has a plan, and he’s not stopping until he proves he’s more than just a pretty face—he’s someone worthy of winning Fee’s heart.

I was really sorry to see this one end, it was so refreshing and entertaining I wanted it to go on forever! Ash is the party boy in this story, just cruising along in life, and not looking for anything serious, Fee is not into casual dating, and when they meet, Ash finds he can't get the mouthwatering geek out of his mind!

Thus the need for the dating manual, Ash goes to great lengths to impress Fee, some of them NOT his best ideas ( maybe crashing the book club meeting could have been thought through more :p). You will get a giggle out of this one, but what's more important, is you will get these two guys, they will resonate with you in some way, shape, or form, now that is good writing!

I can't wait for book 2 in this series, I need to find out what happens to Ash's best friend, and I can't wait to catch up with these guys again! Grab this book friends, you will be just as enamored as I am! Thanks Piper and Xara, for giving us an entertaining and heartfelt read that I hope is just the first of many in this series!

                                                                reviewed by: Becky

Don’t waste a chance at happiness…

Leo is a lonely workaholic with no time for romance in his life. His job in London takes all his energy and commitment. When he goes to Cornwall to stay with his terminally ill uncle, Edwin, love is the last thing Leo expects to find.

Tris lives in a cottage on Edwin’s land. Gay, but still half in the closet, he and Leo bond over their affection for Edwin, and the pull of attraction between them proves too strong to ignore. In Tris’s arms, in the wilds of Cornwall, Leo finds a peace he’d forgotten existed.

On his return to London, Leo finds himself grieving for more than just the loss of his uncle. When some unexpected news gives Leo the chance to return to Cornwall, he’s afraid it will be too late to rekindle things with Tris. But having learned much from his stay with his uncle, Leo doesn’t want to look back and wish he’d done things differently.

It’s time to seize the day—if it’s not already too late.

I love this book for the lessons it teaches you, and for the characters so lifelike you can really relate to them all on some level! Leo is so wrapped up in his work and city life that when he goes to stay with his Uncle Edwin in his last days, he has some winding down to do, he never thought winding down would entail finding the man he wants above all others!

Tris lives on Edwin's land in a small cottage, and he and Leo couldn't be more different, but different is good in this case and the two quickly acknowledge there is a spark there. Can these two men get over their hurdles and make a life together?

This story will make you feel things most books don't, you want to climb in it and help these two men out at times, but the path to love is not always easy, but it is always worth it, join these two men and a lovely cast of characters as they learn this lesson and many more! Thanks Jay, for giving us a book of lessons that is so beautiful in the teaching!

HERE IS THE EXCERPT:

Excerpt:

On the beach they crunched along the shingle to the edge of the rocks, then turned to look out over the sea. It was almost completely dark now, and the moon was rising, casting streaks of bright silver on the oil-black water.

They stood in silence, watching and listening to the crash of the waves. Leo’s heart felt suddenly too large for his chest. He was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place, a place that had barely changed since his childhood. The sea came and went with the tides, the sands shifted, but the rocks were constant. Yet here Leo was, an adult now rather than a boy, and his uncle reduced to an echo of the man Leo remembered—physically, at least. Unexpected tears prickled the backs of Leo’s eyes as a rush of emotion so strong that it made him draw in a sharp breath assaulted him. He swallowed hard, forcing the feelings back down.

Out of his peripheral vision, he saw Tris turn towards him, but Leo carried on gazing out at the gentle, rolling movement of the sea. Tris shifted his feet in the sand, bringing him closer. The warm skin of his arm brushed Leo’s, and Leo ached for more contact. He needed human warmth and touch to chase away the cold emptiness in his heart.

YEP, THIS BOOK IS THAT GOOD! HERE IS A LITTLE INFO ON JAY: AND LINKS TO GET TO KNOW HER!

Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England, with her husband, two children, and two cats.
She comes from a family of writers, but she always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed her by. She spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content. One day, she decided to try and write a short story–just to see if she could–and found it rather addictive. She hasn’t stopped writing since.

AFTER THE FIRE; THROUGH HELL AND BACK #2

HI THERE FRIENDS! GRAB YOUR TISSUES AND COMFORT FOOD FOR THIS NEXT REVIEW, YOU ARE GONNA NEED IT! WE HAVE AFTER THE FIRE, BOOK 2 IN THE THROUGH HELL AND BACK SERIES BY FELICE STEVENS! LET'S HAVE A LOOK:

SEE THIS QUOTE IS PERFECT FOR BOTH THESE GUYS! HERE IS MY REVIEW

After the Fire (Through Hell & Back  #2) by Felice Stevens
                                                                   reviewed by: Becky

A single bullet destroyed the dreams of Dr. Jordan Peterson. With his lover dead, Jordan descends into an endless spiral of self-destruction that nearly costs him his friends, his career and his life. When Jordan finds himself working closely with the aloof Lucas Conover, the investment banker’s mysterious past and unexpected kindness shocks him back into a life and emotions he’d thought lost forever.

The betrayal by the foster brother he’d worshiped, taught Lucas Conover never to trust or believe in anyone. Living a solitary life couldn’t free him of the nightmare of his former life; it reinforced his belief that he would never fall in love. When the death of one of his clients forces him to work closely with Dr. Jordan Peterson, he meets a person whose suffering exceeds his own. Though Jordan rejects his effort to help, something within Luke pushes him discover more about the first man to ever get under his skin.

As Luke lets down his guard and Jordan lets go of his pain, desire takes control. Each man must come to terms with past struggles if they are to create a future together. And learning to trust in themselves and love again after tragedy and a lifetime of pain, may be the only thing that saves them in the end.

Have you ever picked up a book and you just knew it was going to profoundly affect  you even before you started reading it? Bingo, this book was like that for me, after  waiting for Jordan's story for what seemed like forever, I was not disappointed in the least! Jordan is hurting and shattered after the death of his sweet, understanding lover Keith, how do you go on when it feels like your whole life ends  in an instant? This is the question Jordan struggles to figure out, and he needs to  figure it out before he loses everyone close to him because of his destructive  actions!

Luke is no stranger to pain, and has his own demons to lay to rest, can Luke and  Jordan get past their demons, and start to acknowledge the feelings between them?  This is a wonderful look at two men with issues and the decisions they make and  steps they take to lay them to rest as they decide to take a chance on love!

Do yourself a favor and read this one, yes you will cry, yes you will get angry, but  would the book be well written if you didn't feel every single emotion with the  characters, no, it wouldn't. Believe me this one is well written, Felice Stevens  knows how to embed a story right into your heart for sure! Thank you Felice, for  giving Jordan the chance at happiness I always knew he deserved!

HERE IS AN EXCERPT TO WET YOUR WHISTLE:

The ache in his head was eclipsed only by the pain in his heart. Bleary-eyed, Dr. Jordan Peterson lifted his head from where he sat, slumped at his kitchen table, to stare into the void of his house. Empty bottles of vodka littered the table, alongside half-empty takeout Chinese food containers.

Still alone.

Each time he awakened, Jordan prayed the nightmare that played consistently in his head would cease. It was like that song played on the radio every hour you want to forget, but can’t.

“I’m sorry, Jordan, but Keith didn’t make it.”

How do you move on from the finality of the death of your love when you’ve promised him the rest of your life? After almost nine months he still didn’t have the answer.

The doorbell rang. Groaning with the effort it took to move his protesting body, and with his head pounding from another vicious hangover, he swallowed his nausea and shuffled to the front door of his town house. He groaned again as he squinted through the peephole at the sight of his best friend, Drew, with Drew’s lover, Ash.

Jordan’s chest tightened at the happiness on his friend’s face as Drew kissed Ash’s cheek, unaware he was being spied upon. God help him, but there were times in the past months that he almost hated Drew. Feeling guilty he’d even had those thoughts in his head, he yanked open the door to greet the two men.

“Damn, you look like shit.” Ash’s sharp gaze raked him up and down. “Ow.” He rubbed his arm when Drew elbowed him. “Don’t get mad at me, baby. You know he does. Look at him.”

“Can we come in, Jordy?” Drew’s kind smile strangely made him feel worse, not better.

He said nothing and pulled the front door wider for his friends, leaving them to trail behind him back through the house and into the spacious kitchen. Sunlight poured onto the terra-cotta floors and glinted off the glass-fronted maple cabinets. The kitchen was his pride and joy, and when he and Keith bought the brownstone, it had been the only room he cared about decorating. Jordan had always loved staring out of the large bay window as he relaxed with his cup of coffee in the morning.

“Did you have a party?” Drew tipped his head to the table, still cluttered with vodka bottles.

“Party of one, more likely.”

Jordan heard Ash’s muttered remark, and despite a throbbing head and a roiling stomach, he lashed out.

“Shut up, Davis.” He and Ash had never had the easiest of relationships, and even though Jordan knew how happy Drew was, the man still irritated the hell out of him.

“Why, Jordan? The truth hurts?” Ash’s voice, oddly enough, neither condemned nor derided him. Instead, it held an overall note of sadness, mixed with empathy that pulled Jordan up short. “You sit here, night after night, refusing our dinner invitations, as well as any social contact with Rachel, Mike, or even Esther. Don’t think we don’t know what you’re doing and why.”

Jordan winced. Shit. A kindhearted, sympathetic Ash Davis was almost worse than the usual sarcastic attitude he dished out to everyone. “I’m not in the mood for company; that’s all.”

“And I call bullshit on that. You’re still mourning Keith, and I get that, but that doesn’t mean you don’t go on living. When your only company since he died has been vodka or whiskey, you’re heading for disaster.”

“Jordy.” Drew slung an arm around his shoulder. “I’m worried about you. You’ve lost weight, skipped days at the hospital, and I was told that during surgery last week—”

“Are you checking up on me?” He pulled away from Drew, shaking with anger. “What the fuck, man? You’re not my goddamn keeper.” Humiliation, shame, and a sense of despair tore through him as he turned away from his two friends to go back and sit at the kitchen table. He ran his hands over the battered wood of the long farmhouse table. He remembered how happy he and Keith had been to find it in the small Pennsylvania town they’d stumbled upon one Saturday. Making love on top of it after lugging it up the stairs of the brownstone was a memory etched forever in his mind. He gripped the edge of the table to steady himself.

A few deep breaths settled him, yet he couldn’t face his friends.

For over thirty years he and Drew had been friends; the man knew him better than anyone else. People might think Drew Klein was sweet and easygoing, but Jordan knew the core of steel within his friend. Drew refused to back down if he thought he could help. True to form, Drew dropped into the chair right next to him, challenging and direct.

“Jordan. Look at me.”

It took an effort to tear his gaze away from the tabletop, but he inhaled a deep breath and smiled into Drew’s face. “What is it?”

Drew seemed taken aback that Jordan was smiling and not lashing out with his usual anger. “I’m not checking up on you. It’s common knowledge that you showed up to your first surgery since Keith died and had to wait an extra hour to start because you had the shakes.” Drew’s mouth thinned to a hard line. “Are you crazy showing up drunk for surgery? You could lose your fucking license, for God’s sake.”

“I wasn’t drunk. I was overtired and hadn’t eaten since lunchtime the day before.”
Behind him he heard Ash snort with laughter. “Are you fucking kidding me, Jordan? You can come up with a better one than that.”

“Fuck off, Ash,” he shot back. “I couldn’t care less about your opinion.”

“Do you care about mine, Jordy? Don’t lie to me.” Drew’s stare remained unflinching, his eyes soft and knowing. “I know you’re still having a hard time moving on from Keith’s death, but it’s going to be a year soon.”

“It’s only been nine months. God almighty, did you expect me to forget him already?” Horrified, Jordan swept his hand across the table, sending the empty bottles and food containers crashing to the floor. “Could you forget Ash so quickly? Keith and I were together for almost four years. Stop pressuring me to move on with my life. It’s over for me. There will never be anyone else.”
