Every once in a while, the average looking guy scores!

Robert McIntyre is a closeted, average looking sports columnist for the Daily Read. Unfortunately, his desire to stay in has cost him the chance at love more than once. However, now it seems his luck will change since his editor has asked him to interview Jake Valenta. Jake and Robert knew one another in college and when he heard from a mutual friend that Jake might be bisexual, Robert didn’t believe him.

Before Robert’s trip, they discover a mutual affection for one another. Jake shares his desire to stay behind closed doors because he can’t stand being called a fag, but desperately wants Robert to be his man.

Robert and Jake want a chance to reconnect on a more personal level, but will this budding relationship ruin their careers?

I loved this little story so so much, I love it when you connect with a character so quickly because they are so well written! Robert is an average guy who wants a chance at love just like everyone else, he is fearful to step out of the closet with his job in the macho world of sports journalism, Jake is the man he has been looking for, but at what price? Don't miss this one people, it may be short, but it is oh so sweet!  *5 Stars*

WELL DOESN'T THIS QUOTE FIT THIS BOOK LIKE A GLOVE! HERE IS MY REVIEW:

Razzle Dazzle (Gin and Jazz #2) by Morticia Knight
                                                      reviewed by: Becky

Jack is on the verge of silent film stardom, but Hollywood glory won’t heal his broken heart. But the seductive screen idol—Roman Pasquale—sweeps Jack away, and makes him his own. Will Roman’s obsessive love finally bring Jack true happiness?

Jack is devastated by the loss of Nick, his best friend and lover. His only other friend, new Hollywood star Trixie Fox, comes to his rescue. What he doesn’t know, is that she’s also helping Roman Pasquale in his carefully planned seduction of the shy and innocent Jack.

Suave film screen idol—Roman Pasquale—has been obsessed by Jack Stone from the moment he spotted him at a Global Studios party. He will stop at nothing until the golden-haired young man belongs to him. An expert at getting what he wants, Roman plans every wicked word, look and move to bring him closer to achieving his prize.

Jack is on the brink of stardom, and can’t believe that his movie star crush, Roman Pasquale, is taking an interest in him. But he resists the older, more sophisticated man’s attempts at seducing him. After all, he still loves Nick, and just isn’t ready to try again with anyone else. But when Roman turns on the charm, Jack is tempted. Can Roman replace Nick in Jack’s heart? Or is the magical world of the great Roman Pasquale all an illusion?

This is book 2 in the Gin and Jazz series, and a worthy followup to an epic book 1! You fell in love with sweet Jack in book 1, and now all you want to do is protect him from the temptations and evils of 1920's Hollywood! HOLLYWOOD BOUND, GIN AND JAZZ #1

OK, I AM SOOO EXCITED THAT I WAS INTRODUCED TO THIS SERIES! TWO BOYS IN LOVE IN 1920'S HOLLYWOOD? YES PLEASE! THIS IS BOOK ONE IN A SERIES, IT ENDS WITH A GASP (MY WAY OF SAYING CLIFFHANGER) LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT WHY YOU NEED TO GET THIS SERIES!

THIS QUOTE IS SO TRUE NO MATTER WHAT ERA YOU LIVE IN! LET'S START WITH THE REVIEW:

Hollywood Bound (Gin and Jazz #1) by: Morticia Knight
                                                               reviewed by: Becky

Jack and Nick seek fortune and adventure in the silent film era of Hollywood. But their newly-expressed love is threatened by the heady allure of fame, gin and easy money.

Sweet and innocent nineteen year-old Jack has loved the older and more street wise Nick from almost the first time he met him. Nick has taken care of him ever since Jack arrived in New York after he was beaten and thrown out of the boy’s orphanage for messing around with one of the guys there. They share a passion for silent films and have dreams of heading west to make their fortunes building sets for the studios. If only Nick felt the same passion for Jack, and wasn’t already engaged to a gal back in Philly.

Nick’s temper sometimes gets the best of him, but that’s only because he worries about Jack – Nick is all the poor kid has. But he’s also terrified about the way he’s been feeling towards Jack lately. They’re the kinds of feelings he should be having for his fiancĂ©—Penelope—and never for a man. His only goal is to get them both to Hollywood, where he’s sure they’ll be rolling in the dough in no time, and where everything will all work out the way it should.

Hollywood isn’t exactly what they’d thought it would be. There are plenty of gin joints, jazz, money, parties and sex—but everything comes with a hefty price. Everyone they meet—from Trixie Fox, the ditzy up and coming starlet, to Bernie, the foreman who gets them their first studio job—seems to have a hidden agenda. Can the newfound love between Jack and Nick survive the tawdry mess that makes up the glitz and glamour of the celluloid kingdom, or will their own secrets tear them apart forever?

Where do I start? This book was such a delight for me! I have always been in love with the allure of Hollywoodland in the 20's and 30's, and this book does not disappoint! Jack and Nick are best friends and more, but can they survive the backstabbing and selfish ways of Hollywood? This is book 1, and I can't wait to see what Morticia has in store for us in this 7 book series! Thanks Morticia, for a series that focuses on the glam and glitz of '20s Hollywood, but also shows some of whats hiding in the shadows! Can't wait to read book 2! *5 Stars*

Lyle wasn't "in the closet" but neither did he advertise his preferences, and when hot college boy, Cody, rents his spare room, Lyle is sure that the guy is unaware he has moved in with a gay man. When Lyle quickly develops an attraction to Cody, he keeps it quiet as there is nothing about Cody that implies he swings Lyle's way - until he walks in on Cody in a compromising situation that leaves Lyle both shocked and surging with jealousy.

I love the fact that even though this is a short story, it is a complete story, and the character composition is stellar! That is the awesome thing about this author, whatever she does, the characters are so distinct and real, and the story is never lacking! You will love this story, and Lyle and Cody as well! *5 Stars*

Man is this a hot little number, I am surprised these two didn't set the hotel on fire! Who says that a short story can't pack the heat of a novel, no one told that to Ms. Snead!! Danny and Cory will light up the pages for sure! Don't miss this hot little number! * 5 Stars*

When Tyler's homophobic best friend - Shane - becomes uncomfortable by the intimacy of a gay couple at the theater, and then the focus of their flirting, Tyler casually suggests that Shane prove to them he isn't bothered by their flirting or display of affection - by openly kissing Tyler in front of them. Secretly in love with Shane, Tyler isn't prepared for his best friend's reaction to a simple little kiss.

Ok, so I should have known it could never be a simple kiss with this author, and that is the beauty of it, emotions are in the forefront, even in a short story! Gotta love it when you feel what a character feels, and you connect with them even in such a short time! Tyler, and Shane will grab your heart in this one! Short or not, this is one of my favorites! *5 Stars*

THANKS FOR JOINING US FOR WEEK 5 OF OUR FIRESIDE CHAT!! THIS WEEK WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO HAVE ONE OF OUR FAVORITES AND OUR BUDDY, A.M. SNEAD! HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!

WELL WE GOT THE TEA POURED AND READY TO GO (WELL FOR MIKE'S IT'S COFFEE, HE GOES NOWHERE WITHOUT IT!) SO LET'S JUMP INTO THE INTERVIEW SHALL WE:

Thanks for coming Audrey, we are so happy to finally have you on! Let's  get right to the questions:

1. You have gotten quite a few new readers in the last few months, what is the one recurring comment you have heard from them about your books?

Besides yelling at me for making them cry (lol) readers often comment on how emotionally “real” my characters are and that they don’t feel ‘fictional’ but like real family and friends, and that they feel like they are right there with them, experiencing their pain, passion and joy. Also, I receive a lot of compliments on the way I weave God and His love and acceptance of gays throughout my stories.

Bec- Well I can honestly see why they would say you made them cry, because you owe us a lot of tissue money for sure! Your boys are very easy to love and relate to for sure! We believe, as you do, that God doesn't hate anyone for being who they are, or for being true to themselves.

2. As a fan of you for a while, I have gotten a chance to see most of your boys "grow up", who is the one that you think has evolved the most, out of any of your series?

That’s a tough one, as they’ve all grown in their own ways. I think as far as growing to accept and love themselves for who they are and what God created them to be – I would have to say Sam and Noble. When I look at all my boys, I feel like these two started out the most incapable of accepting themselves. Others have overcome greater “obstacles” of the past, but as far as personal growth and coming to believe they are worthy to be loved for who they are – Sam and Noble stand out to me. Although, I might have to include Dane in there. Coming to that place of self-forgiveness was a long and difficult journey for him. It is really hard to say who has grown the most, when each of their obstacles were different. I see how each of them struggled and overcame. I am equally proud of all my boys.

Bec- That is a valid point for sure! All of these boys go through so much that at some point every one of them grows in some way and learns a valuable lesson. Those three did have a lot of issues relating to self to work out, and those are sometimes the hardest issues to deal with!

3. Your series are very long with quite a few books (thankfully), is there a certain point you stop, or do you let the stories decide that?

Well, writing the Phoenix books as CJ Bishop, I am subject to the wishes of my publisher. Had it been up to me and my boys – that series would have continued…perhaps indefinitely. As far as the series under A.M. Snead – I don’t “plan” for their finales. As long as the boys are willing to go on, and the readers keep wanting more of their stories, the series will continue. I fall in love with my boys rather quickly and have no wish to ever let them go. Luckily, many of my readers feel the same.

Bec- Mike and I have talked about a petition and a revolt to get the Phoenix Club series to continue, lol if we thought it would work, we would be all over it! We can't wait to see what will happen with Jack and the boys, and I know Pauls story in 'Necklace' is gonna kill us!! So, no none of your fans ever want your series to end!

4. You know who mine and Mike's favorites of all your boys are ( Lex for me, Clint for Mike), which boy do you get people saying is their favorite the most?

Nate & Kyle (Lost In Love) often come in at the top of that list, and I have to say they are very, very special to me as well. Of the Phoenix boys…Cole & Gabe are huge favorites, also Max & Horatio. But then Dane & Angel rank pretty high among many as well as Abel & Devlin. It’s hard to narrow it down with all those boys. I guess the only ones who lost out on the “favorites” list was Caleb and Samuel – which, I won’t lie, kind of breaks my heart. But maybe I was the one who failed them and didn’t make their story as compelling as it deserved to be. I did try to resurrect them in the Chronicles trilogy, place them back in the spotlight…maybe that awarded them some love. I hope so.

Apart from the “main” Phoenix boys, I would have to say Lex and Clint took the spotlight.

Bec- I love Caleb and Samuel, as I am sure a lot of your fans do, I can't understand why they would be last, but maybe your are right, and giving them more time in the Chronicles will make them stand out more!

5. Who would you say is the character that most resembles your character?

This is actually an easy one for me; Sam (Boy In The Shadows). I spent a good portion of my life feeling insecure, and I am totally in sync with Sam’s inability to believe that someone could simply love him for who he was. And his compulsion to run from the things that hurt – or might hurt him, finding it easier and safer to avoid all aspects of romance and love, than to find out he was right all along and no one would ever truly love him. Needless to say, writing Sam’s story was an extremely rough journey for me. But of all my boys, he remains my most direct “counterpart”.

Bec- I know I and may other people struggle with insecurity, and until we realize that we are made just the way God wants us to be, some will continue to struggle. I think your books really help people with that, at least they did for me!

6. The Broken Necklace is becoming a favorite of your readers, how many books do you see in that series right now? Any spinoffs in the works?

The ‘Necklace’ story is very special to me, as Lonny and Paul were my very first “gay” boys. Their story started it all (the original novella, that is). Once I decided to write their story into a full novel, I envisioned a 3-volume trilogy under the series name “That Which Was Lost”: The Brokenhearted Necklace (vol. 1) / The Evil That Men Do (vol. 2 – Paul’s story) / Fire Of Forgiveness, Ashes Of Love (vol. 3). I saw volume 3 as the final piece in which Lonny reconciles with his dad, and Paul reconciles with multiple aspects and people from his past (not his father – there is no redemption for him). But even if those three main volumes do come about, I can see writing more books about Paul and Lonny. As I mentioned earlier, I hate to let go of my boys.

Bec- I love that story as well, and Mike fell in love with it also, Paul is gonna break our hearts I know! We can't wait for whatever comes our way with that story, it is sure to be epic!!

7. Boys Of Porn is a good example of how you take what is to most people taboo, and showing the beautiful side of it, do you enjoy doing that? I know we enjoy reading it!

I do enjoy it. So many people just look at the “surface” of others’ lives, judge them by what they can see – or think they are seeing – rather than acknowledging them as “real people” who deserve respect and love, just like anyone else. For quite some time before I ever seriously considered writing the BOP series, I wondered if it would be possible to write about porn stars and successfully represent them in a way that would cause readers to love and care for them on an emotional level, and see them as people to love, cherish and admire first and foremost – and the fact that they are porn stars being a secondary, less ‘identifying’ aspect of who they are. I hope that makes sense (lol). I think maybe the BOP series is proving that it can be done. Yes, the boys are hot and sexy, and their scenes are scorching – but for me anyway, that is merely a ‘bonus’. I love those boys for their ‘hearts’ and their sincere love for one another…not simply for the cold showers they inspire.

Bec- Ahh but they do inspire those showers don't they! I love that these boys represent family, and loyalty, and love while in an industry that many see as dirty, and wrong. What people won't say, is that those that yell about it the loudest have more than likely watched it!

8. Last one Audrey, if there was one message that you hope your readers take away from your books what would it be?

Above all else – that ALL love is beautiful and to be cherished, and that God is the God of ALL love. No one has the right to tell someone who they can love, or that they’re wrong for feeling the way they do. A line from one of my favorite songs says: “Don’t tell me who to love, don’t tell me who to kiss. Don’t tell me that there’s something wrong because I feel like this. Don’t tell me ‘no’. Don’t tell me who to love.” That is Ray Boltz’s song ‘Don’t Tell Me Who To Love’. A man who all his life was a gospel singer, hiding who he was, praying for God to ‘heal’ him from his same sex attractions. He was 50 years old before he finally came out. His song “God Knows I Tried” is – to a T – the story of Noble’s struggle (Made To Be Broken).

I guess I want my message to be tolerance and understanding and compassion for those who are different than us. And for all the beautiful gay men and women out there, young and old…more than anything I want them to know that God does love them, that they are beautiful in His sight – regardless of what so many of His own people preach. The bible says that ‘God is Love’. No one but God Himself has the right to decide who that love covers. What puzzles and troubles me the most is why human beings find it so much easier – and alluring – to hate and harm…than to love and cherish. I will never understand it.

Bec- Well I couldn't have said that any better! Thank you so much for joining us for the fireside chat Audrey! We are gonna have to get some of your boys in here and interview them! I know that would be a whole lot of fun! We love you lady!!

BOOK 4.5 SYMPHONY IN BLUE:

Symphony In Blue (Blue Notes Series #4.5)
                                                                 reviewed by: Becky

Are you a fan of the Blue Notes series? Would you like to know where the couples from the first four books are now? This is your chance to catch up! Aiden and Sam are finally getting married. But when Cary and Antonio’s baby daughter makes her appearance a bit earlier than planned, the big reception is put on hold. David Somers normally conducts orchestras, but this time he devotes his energy to “conducting” his friends so that everyone can join him at his Milan villa for a reunion at an intimate Thanksgiving dinner.

Sam and Aiden, Jules and Jason, David and Alex, and Cary and Antonio are soon assembled, and each couple shares something they are thankful for. Played out in four movements, this symphony is a celebration of friendship and love, orchestrated by David.

Though these books are stand alone's, and can be read in any order, this one is meant to be read after book 4, to catch you up with the couples we have met so far! What a clever thing to do! We have loved these couples so much, and to do kind of a 'Where are they now' type of book is lovely! A glorious look at the lasting bonds of the family of friends these men have become! This is a delightful read complete with a new addition with an untimely entrance, and a time of friendship and fellowship in Italy. Such beautiful literary music makes up the Symphony In Blue! Thanks Shira, for letting us catch up with our guys!! *5 Stars*

Encore (Blue Notes Series #5) by Shira Anthony
                                                               reviewed by: Becky

Cool kid violinist Roger Nelson doesn’t give a damn about anything. Wannabe conductor John Fuchs is awkward, effeminate, and just figuring out he’s gay. Despite their differences, they become friends—then lovers—and after college, they try to make it work. But it’s the 1970s, and Roger can’t bring himself to admit he’s gay. Worse, after his brother is killed in Vietnam, Roger tries to live up to his memory and be the perfect son. Then after suffering one tragedy too many, he makes the biggest mistake of his life: Roger pushes John away.

Through the years, they dance around the truth and in and out of each other’s lives, never quite able to let go. Twenty years later, Roger still carries the pain of losing his dream of a brilliant career with him, while John is a superstar conductor with a wild reputation. John’s off-stage antics get him plenty of attention, good and bad, though deep down, he wants only Roger. Finally determined to hold on to what really matters, Roger asks John for another chance, and when John panics and runs, Roger has to convince him to listen to his heart.

This is book 5 in the Blue Notes series, and perhaps the most heart breaking! Roger and John will make you yearn for them to be together, the love they share is priceless, and it is about time that these two men realize it! Fear of rejection and pain has no place in true love. Thank you Shira, for showing us that sometime a beautiful love can be born out of years of pain. * 5 Stars*

AND NOW FOR THE FINAL BOOK IN THE SERIES SO FAR (HEY A GIRL CAN DREAM) DISSONANCE:

Dissonance (Blue Notes #6) by Shira Anthony
                                                              reviewed by: Becky

British noble Cameron Sherrington has hit rock bottom. The love of his life, opera sensation Aiden Lind, is marrying another man, and Cam knows it’s his fault for pushing Aiden away. As if that’s not enough, someone is trying to take away his family business, and the US authorities are pursuing him on charges of money laundering. Fearing for his safety and unable to return to London, Cam runs, but he’s too broke to find a place to stay, and his fugitive’s life doesn’t even remotely resemble a Hollywood thriller.

Desperate and betrayed by the people he thought cared about him, Cam takes refuge in the subway station where Galen Rusk plays his trumpet for tips. Though Cam hears the beauty in Galen’s music, it’s Galen’s firm hand on his shoulder that stops him from throwing everything away. Their unusual relationship takes a turn that surprises them both, and neither man is sure he wants the complication. Galen is fighting the ghosts of his past, and Cam has his own nightmares to face. When Cam’s troubles threaten to tear them apart, Cam figures he had it coming—that it’s all penance due for a life lived without honesty or love. But he never considered the possibility that he might not survive it.

We first met Cam in Aria, as the one who breaks Aiden's heart. I wanted to like Cam, I really did, I felt that there was a wonderful, broken man deep inside that beautiful, shallow veneer. I am so glad I was right, he just needed the right person to bring out the beautiful person within, doing that brought out all that he had been hiding from in his past also. The way these two men find love and work out their problems is a lovely, heartbreaking story indeed! Thank you Shira for making Cam what I always knew he was inside! *5 Stars*

                                                            5 trumpets for sure!!!
